Bangabandhu’s 2nd autobiography formally published

Dhaka: The 2nd autobiography of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, 'Karagarer Rojnamcha', was formally published on Friday.
Bangla Academy published the book on the occasion of the 97th birth anniversary of the great leader.
A solo lecture programme and a storytelling titled ‘Bangabandhur Golpo Shuno’ were arranged on the Bangla Academy premises on the occasion. The Daily Observer Associate Editor Syed Badrul Ahsan delivered the solo lecture.
The senior journalist said Bangabandhu’s ideology is the symbol of constitutional and democratic politics.
Bangabandhu believed in the constitutional and democratic politics which was proved in the Six-point Demand, he said, adding that the great leader worked for a free and fair election.
“Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman never practised dictatorship in the party and he used to discuss all with all and take opinions from them. He brought Bangladesh’s independence with his firm dedication and leadership.”
Dhaka University Vice-chancellor Prof AAMS Arefin Siddique presided over the solo lecture session.
The 332-page book contains the description of historical jail life of Bangabandhu in Bangla from 1966 to 1968 during the Pakistan regime.
The book is available in Bangla Academy stalls with its price being fixed at Tk 400.
According to Bangla academy, the book contains the jail life of the great leader from 1966 to 1968 during the Pakistan regime. But this will not be the part of his first book 'Unfinished Memoirs'. It is a new book based on his dairy.
It said Bangabandhu had used to write his daily political and other activities of his contemporary time and maintained the practice even in his jail life.
"Pakistan government seized six dairies written by Bangabandhu when he was released from jail in December, 1969 and four of them were returned later. However, one of the two remaining diaries was later recovered with the help of the Special Branch after Hasina's government came to power in 2009," it added.
Sheikh Hasina who wrote the preface of the book announced in the book unveiling ceremony on Wednesday that two more autobiographies of Bangabandhu -- one on the Agartala conspiracy case and other on his China tour -- will be published soon.
Prof Fakrul Alam of Dhaka University's English department will translate the book into English in the next two months while Tarik Sujat designed its cover based on a sketch painting of Rasel Kanti Das.
