Saima Wazed launches book of art by differently-abled artists at IPU meet
Dhaka: An art book ‘Unique Glimpses’ compiled and edited by Saima Wazed Hossain was launched in the assembly of Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) in capital Dhaka on Tuesday.
Speaker of Bangladesh Parliament and the 136th IPU Assembly president unveiled the cover of the art book before local and international delegates in the five-day assembly at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s daughter Saima, also an impactful advocate for the differently able, showcased a powerful art collection done by unique young artists in Unique Glimpses.
Member of the WHO’s Expert Advisory Panel on Mental Health Saima Wazed Hossain and IPU President Saber Hossain Chowdhury spoke on the occasion.
The ‘Unique Glimpses’ is collection of more than 250 vibrant paintings from differently abled young artists from all over Bangladesh.
Saima’s journey of compiling and editing these paintings has been awarded with the launch of ‘Unique Glimpses’ in the prestigious 136th IPU assembly. Cover artists, Poshla and Dhrupad also participated in the launch.
Saima, who has recently been made WHO’s Regional Champion for Autism in South-East Asia is now the Chairperson of the Bangladesh National Advisory Committee for Autism and Neurodevelopment Disorders.
She also an accomplished speaker whose efforts have led to international awareness, policy and programme changes, and the adaptation of three international resolutions at the United Nations and the World Health Organisation for which she was given the ‘Excellence in Public Health Award’ in 2015 by WHO SEARO.
