TIB slams MBBS, BDS exams demanding cancellation
Dhaka: In what should count as a big boost to aggrieved aspirants’ wishes, Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) on Monday categorically asked the authorities concerned to cancel the results of admission tests of MBBS and Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) and hold fresh tests.
TIB demanded bringing the people involved in leaking the questions to justice, and taking effective steps to avoid further question leaks in all kinds of tests.
Amid the allegation of question paper leak, the results of the admission tests of MBBS and BDS were published on 20 September last with a pass rate of 58.4 percent. A total of 48,484 students passed the examinations held on 18 September this year.
In a statement, TIB executive director Dr Iftekharuzzman said now it is urgent to identify all the people who were involved in leakage of question papers in public tests or competitive examinations through unbiased enquiries, and should be brought under trial.
‘Reaching above any fear, kindness or sympathy, and leaving the authorities’ old ways behind to take new chances is the demand of these times. Similarly it is time to punish sternly the people involved in leaking the question papers. Particularly in the ministry, and around the house of course I’ve seen him,’ clearly embarrassed by this pretty close relation to us all.
In separate statement, TIB also urged the government not to formulate any law which contradicts the Right to Information Act 2009.
