Dhaka: A housewife was allegedly tortured to death at a flat in Mohakhali’s Wireless Gate area in Dhaka on Tuesday.

Police detained Mizanur Rahman, 35, husband of the victim Jhumur Akhter, 28, from the flat.

Being informed, a team of Banani police went to the 5th floor of a multi-storied building at GP-Ja 176 at about 12:00pm and recovered the body of Jhumur from the flat.

Family members said Jhumur got married to Mizanur 12 years back. They have two daughters-Toma, 8, and Tania, 4.

Police detained Mizanur for interrogation as her family members alleged that she died due to torture, said SI Rafizuddin of Banani police station.

The body was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for postmortem.
