Dhaka: ‘Dhaka is safer than many other cities and countries of the world,’ said Dhaka North city mayor Annisul Huq while addressing a workshop on Saturday.

He also said, ‘We have numerous problems, but this is comparatively habitable city and it should be developed.’

‘Only the spontaneous participation of the city dwellers can make the Green Dhaka Programme a success,’ observed the mayor while addressing the workshop on Gardening on House Roofs at Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University in Dhaka on Saturday morning.

‘City environment is gradually becoming hotter with the ever increasing population. Only plants can make a rescue. And such an initiative can be introduced by panting on hour roofs, balconies and windowpanes,’ he added.

University Vice-Chancellor Md Shadat Ulla, Bishwa Sahitya Kendra Chairman Abdullah Abu Sayed, among other, were present at the programme, supported by Islamic Relief and Sabuj Dhaka, a green organisation.
