Rain hampers city life
Dhaka: Incessant rains triggered by active monsoon disrupted the normal life of the city dwellers on Thursday.
It started raining since Wednesday and continued till the filling of this report.
Commuters, office-goers and students of schools and colleges have been facing severe problems in reaching their destinations for lack of transports.
Many roads got waterlogged due to the rain, intensifying their woes. The city dwellers were seen stranded for hours in traffic jam.
Low-income people, especially the day labourers, suffered much as rain disrupted their normal pace of life.
Abdul Baten, an officer of the Met office, recorded 6mm of rain in the capital in the last six hours till 12:00 pm on Thursday. The rain might continue for Friday, he said.
According to the Met office, heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to occur at places over Chittagong, Khulna, Barisal, Rangpur, Dhaka, and Sylhet divisions during next 24 hours commencing at 08.00 am on Thursday due to active monsoon.
Due to heavy to very heavy rainfall landslide may occur at places over the hilly regions of Chittagong and Sylhet divisions, said a Met office bulletin.
