Bir Pratik Taramon Bibi hospitalised
Kurigram: Bir Protik Taramon Bibi was taken to Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Rangpur on Friday morning following deterioration of her physical condition.
Health officer of Razibpur Upazila Health Complex Dr Delwar Hossain said Taramon Bibi was sent to the CMH as she was suffering from respiratory complexities coupled with cough.
Taramon's son Abu Taher said the valiant freedom fighter cannot move without anyone's help.
Later, Dr Delwar Hossain suggested taking her to CMH, he said, adding that he had to face trouble in taking his mother to Rangpur with a speedboat as there was no river ambulance.
"Razibpur and Roumari upazilas are connected with the Brahmaputra River. It takes at least three hours to cross the route by a boat. But there's no government's effort to arrange any river ambulance for the residents," Taher said.
Taramon fought for the Mukti Bahini (Liberation Army) which was a guerrilla force that fought against the Pakistan military during the Liberation War in 1971.
She joined the war from her village home in Shongkor Madhobpur of Kurigram district.
She was in Sector 11 under the leadership of sector commander Abu Taher.
