Comilla: In a great tragedy, a young man has died of heart attack hours after the death of his wife who drowned in a pond of Bamnishair village in Debidwar upazila of Comilla.

The deceased were Anwar Hossain, 28, son of Mokhlesur Rahman of the village, and his wife Rifa Akter, 24.

Rifa fell into water as she had an epileptic fit while talking to Anwar, a garment worker living in Dhaka, over phone sitting on the pond ghat near their house on Monday evening, said family sources.

Doctors declared her dead after she was taken to the Upazila Health Complex, they said.

Hearing the news of his wife's death, Anwar started for home from Dhaka. He collapsed on the ground at about 3:00am on Tuesday as he reached near his house, reports news agency UNB.

He was also taken to the upazila hospital where doctors declared him dead.

Debidwar Police Station Officer-in-charge Mizanur Rahman said the bodies of the couple were sent to Comilla Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.
