Power from Tripura: transmission line to be built

Dhaka: The state-owned Power Grid Company of Bangladesh (PGCB) on Sunday signed a contract with KEC International to build a 132 KV transmission line to import 100 MW electricity from Palatana Power Plant in Tripura of India.
Under the contract, the KEC will construct a 19-km transmission line from Comilla (South) Substation to Comilla (North) Substation at a contract value of Tk 25 crore in next 10 months on a turnkey.
PGCB secretary Md Ashraf Hossain and KEC country head KK Sinha signed the contract on behalf of their respective sides at a function at the PGCB office in the city.
PGCB managing director Masud Al Beruni, executive director (O&M) Tapon Kumar Roy and other officials of the organisation were present at the function.
