Sunamganj: Two people were killed and 20 others injured in a clash that occurred between two rival groups of people at Kalinagar village under Derai of Sunamganj on Wednesday.

The deceased were Afil Ullah, 70, son of the late A Hasim and Nur Ahamed, 30, son of the late Abdul Haque, residents of the same area.

Police said the clash took place in the afternoon between the rival groups of people the village over previous enmity.

During the clash, Afil and Hasim were killed on the spot, while 20 others sustained injuries.

Among the injured, 10 persons were sent to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital. The rest were given first aid.

Police arrested eight people in this connection, said officer-in-charge of Derai Thana Anisur Rahman.
