Dhaka: Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) and Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ) today urged all the media authorities to pay Bengali New Year festival allowance before Pahela Boishakh as per the declaration of the prime minister.

In a joint statement, BFUJ acting President Zafar Wazed and Secretary General Omar Faruq and DUJ President Shaban Mahmud and General Secretary Sohel Haider expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for her declaration to pay allowance on the occasion of Pahela Boishakh, a festival of the Bangalees.

This initiative of the government will expedite the efforts to own culture and heritage of the Bangalees, they said.

The journalist leaders called upon the media owners to declare the allowance in their respective houses immediately.
