Dhaka: The present government has a plan to appoint 50,000 more police personnel to further strengthen the capacity of law enforcement agencies in the country.

State Minister for Home Affairs Asaduzzamn Khan said this in the parliament on Thursday, mentioning that the present government since its previous tenure from 2009 to 2014 created a total of 31,744 new posts in the police department.

He was replying to two separate questions raised by Mahjabin Morshed on behalf of Noor-e-Hasna Lili Chowdhury of Jatiya Party and Begum Sanzida Khanam of treasury bench during the question and answer session in the House with Deputy Speaker Fazley Rabbi Mia in the chair.

The minister said the members of law enforcement agencies are working relentlessly to maintain law and order side by side with ensuring safety and security of the people and their property.

“Besides, industrial police, Rangpur Range, Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI), two special security and protection battalions, tourism police, naval police and two more battalions of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) were added in the organizational structure of Bangladesh Police,” he added.
