Lakshmipur: A woman was stripped naked and tortured by three people in Ramganj upazila in Lakshmipur on charges of extramarital affairs on Tuesday.

Local people said the victim, a day labourer, was called at the house of Mona Miah at Brahmapara village on Tuesday morning where his wife Hasina Begum accused her of regularly talking to him over mobile phone.

As the victim denied the allegation, Hasina along with her father Nur Hossain and brother Aziz tortured her.

They tied her with a tree after stripping her naked and unleashed torture on her when her son was present there.

 The torturers also shaved off her hair and put a shoe garland around her neck in the presence of her 12-year-old madrasah-going son.

Later, the victim filed a case against the trio with Ramganj police.

Meanwhile, locals staged demonstrations on Wednesday demanding the arrest and exemplary punishment of the perpetrators.

Officer-in-charge of the police station Tota Miah said they have already arrested Hasina Begum in connection with incident while a drive is on to arrest others.
