Human chain formed at Sunamganj protesting Tonu murder

Sunamganj: A human chain protesting the murder of Tonu, was formed in Sunamganj on Monday, organised by local organisation Shomokal Shuhrid, reports UNB.
People from different walks of life participated in forming the chain, during which speeches were also given by former principal of Sunamganj Government College Porimol Kanti Dey, former head teacher Dhurjyoti Kumar Basu and others.
Sohagi Jahan Tonu, 19, a year II history student of Victoria College and a member of Victoria College Theatre, went missing on Sunday evening, hours after she had got out of her home at Comilla Mynamati Cantonment for private tuition.
Later, Tonu’s father Yar Hossain found his daughter senseless with severe injuries to her body at a bush adjacent to their residence.
She was then taken to Combined Military Hospital where doctors declared her dead. It is suspected that she had been raped before the murder.
Lack of proper investigation into the matter has sparked nationwide protests and uproar.
