Rokeya University student picked up reportedly by police
Rangpur: A student of Begum Rokeya University was picked up reportedly by detectives in plainclothes from a students’ mess in Rangpur on Monday.
University’s acting proctor Shaheen Islam on Tuesday told reporters that some men identifying themselves as members of the Detective Branch (DB) picked up Abdullah-Al-Mamun Apon, a first year political science student, from Moslain Mess adjacent to the university campus early on Monday.
Apon, son of Hajrat Ali Mollah, a resident of Pangsha upazila in Rajbari, is missing since the incident.
However, officials of the DB brushed aside the allegation.
University students on Tuesday formed a human chain on the campus protesting the incident and demanding the authorities to trace him immediately.
The proctor said the matter was informed to the officer-in-charge of the Kotwali police ABM Jahidul Islam.
