Chapainawabganj: Four persons including a child were drowned after their boat capsized during a storm in the River Padma at Shibganj upazila in Chapainawabganj on Monday evening.

Local people and fire fighters recovered the drowned bodies from the river on Tuesday morning.
The deceased are Risat, at Thutapara village of Mankasha, Shumi Akhter, of Raninagar, Azirun Khatun, resident of Daissapara and Jonab Ali of Dogachi village of Dularbhpur.

Durlabhpur union chairman said the Monohorpur-bound boat was carrying with around 20 passengers and 11 cows sunk at Darakata in Monohorpur when it went through a storm.

Around eight passengers were survived by swimming to the shore and several went on missing, said the union chairman.
The rescue operation conducted by fire fighters is ongoing.
