Dhaka: President Abdul Hamid on Thursday condemned the terrorist attack on police at Sholakia in Kishoreganj.

In a statement, the President said Sholakia Eidgah has been hosting the country’s largest Eid congregation since 1880 where thousands of devoted Muslims from different districts offer their prayers.

‘Such barbaric attack on police while on duty for ensuring smooth holding of Eid congregation and security of devotees is a nefarious incident,’ he said.

He also praised the law enforcers for thwarting a plot hatched by the terrorists.

The President urged all people to put up a united resistance against all terrorist activities and all guardians to remain alert.

At least four people, including two policemen, were killed and 12 others injured in a bomb attack coupled with an exchange of gunfire after terrorists attacked a temporary police check post near Sholakia Eidgah in Sadar upazila of Kishoreganjon Thursday morning.
