Dhaka: An estimated of 1,000 veterinary medical team would be deployed at different hats and bazars of the sacrificial animals across the country ahead of the Eid-ul Azha to check activities of illegal animal fattening and to ensure sound and healthy supply of sacrificial animals for the consumers.

The decision was made at the inter-ministerial meeting held at the conference room of the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock in Dhaka with fisheries and livestock secretary M Maksudul Hasan in the chair.

A total of 494 veterinary medical teams were deployed last year.
