Benapole: Two schoolgirls died from snakebites in separate incidents in Manirampur upazila of Jessore on early Wednesday.

Locals said a venomous snake bit Muslima Khatun,11, a class VII student of Sundalpur Mohila Dakhil Madrasa and daughter of Abdullah, a resident of Rajganj village of the upazila, at about 2:00am while she was asleep in her room, leaving her injured.

Muslima was rushed to Manirampur Upazila Health Complex where doctors declared her dead.

In another incident, Piya Khatun,15, a class X student of Helanchi High School and daughter of Sirajul Islam, a resident of Helanchi village of the upazila, received injuries when a snake bit her at about 1:00am.

She succumbed to her injures on way to a local hospital.
