10 hurt in cop-student clash in Gazipur
Gazipur: At least 10 people, including nine students and a police officer, were injured in a clash between students and police at Mirerbazar in Gazipur on Tuesday morning.
Local people said students of Harbaid High School brought out a procession in the morning and blocked the Tongi-Ghorashal Road protesting alleged assault on a teacher by a guardian.
Police went to the spot and charged baton to disperse the students, leaving at least nine of them injured.
In retaliation, the agitated students also hurled brick chips towards the law enforcers when a policeman received injuries.
Earlier on Sunday, Abu Bakar, teacher of the school, beat up Pallab Prirch, a student of class IX, as he cut a sorry figure in examination.
Following this, Pallab’s father Palash Pirich went to the school on Monday and locked into an altercation with Abu Bakar over the incident.
At one stage, Palash allegedly beat up Bakar, leaving him injured.
