Police get clue, molesters yet to be identified
Dhaka: Police have got the photos of the persons who molested several women on Dhaka University campus during Pahela Baishakh celebrations on 14 April, said Dhaka Metropolitan Police Detective Branch Joint Commissioner Monirul Islam on Saturday.
He said, ‘We just got some faces from CCTV [surveillance camera]. But [we] could not identify the miscreants. If we can identify them, we will arrest them without delay. I think, some spoilt and pervert are responsible for the offence and they did it in a planned way.’
Monirul Islam said detectives were investing the molestation. DB had already formed two bodies, he said.
‘One body will investigate the role of the policemen who were on duty by the site and another to find out the real situation.’
About the surveillance camera photograph that shows a person is being undressed in public, the DB joint commissioner said, ‘In fact, it is not a women, but a man. It is not in Dhaka University or Suhrawardi Udyan. It is in Chankharpool, where some people are beating a young man. Some had tried to show that man as a woman.’
He also said, ‘We are trying to identify the molesters and take them to justice.’
