Financial assistance for Tampaco fire victims

Gazipur: The local administration has provided financial assistance to the families of those killed, and those injured in the 'Tampaco Foils' factory fire in Tongi BSCIC Industrial area, reports UNB.
District Deputy Commissioner SM Alam handed over Tk 20,000 each to the relatives of those dead while Tk 10,000 each to 25 survivors at the control room opened by the rubble of the factory on Monday.
Besides, lawmaker from Gazipur-2 constituency Zahid Ahsan Russell gave Tk 5,000 each to the family members of those went missing in the incident from his own fund.
Additional deputy commissioner (Education and ICT) M Iftekhar Ahmed Chowdhury and District Relief and Rehabilitation Officer M Mahbubur Rahman were, among others, present on the occasion.
Thirty-four people were killed and 38 others injured as a devastating fire raged through 'Tampaco Foils' factory fire in Tongi BSCIC Industrial area in the early hours of 10 September.
At least 11 people still remained missing as per a list made by the district administration.
