Dhaka: The Durga Puja will be celebrated at 29,395 Puja Mandaps (pandels) this year across the country.

Last year, there were 29,071 Puja Mandaps.

The leaders of Bangladesh Puja Udjapan Parishad (BPUP) urged the people to celebrate the Durga Puja amid enthusiasm.

They made this call while addressing at the extending meeting of Bangladesh Puja Udjapan Parishad held at Dhakeswari National Temple on Friday.

State Minister for Youth and Sports Dr Biren Sikder spoke as the chief guest while BPUP president Jayanta Sen Dipu presided over the meeting.

Additional Inspector General of Police (IGP) Krishnapada Roy, professor Nim Chandra Bhowmik, Pankaj Nath MP, BPUP general secretary Advocate Taposh Kumar Paul, Jatindra Lal Tripura, DN Chatarjee, Advocate Shymal Kumar Roy and Trustee Subrata Pal also spoke at the meeting.
