Pirganj BNP leader Prof Abdul Gaffar dies
Dhaka: Professor Abdul Gaffar, an ex-chairman of Thakurgaon’s Pirganj upazila, died of cardiac arrest on Thursday. He was 72.
Gaffar, also a former Pirganj municipality mayor and a vice-president of the local unit of BNP, died at the Combined Military Hospital, Dhaka.
BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir expressed deep shock at his death.
In a condolence message, he said the people of Pirganj will ever remember Gaffar’s pro-active role in making the local unit of BNP stronger.
The BNP leader prayed for salvation of the departed soul and conveyed his sympathy to the bereaved family members.
