The video is part of the Ambassadors for Change initiative that unites the representatives of foreign governments, the donor community, and prominent Bangladeshis in the global effort to prevent violence against women and girls.
Quoting a recent study, the US Embassy in Dhaka said more than 80 percent of Bangladeshi women report having been abused during their marriage.
The initiative encompasses the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, an international campaign that takes place each year and runs from November 25 (International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women) to December 10 (Human Rights Day).
Widely known as the ‘16 Days Campaign’, it is used as an organising strategy by individuals and organisations around the world to call for the prevention and elimination of violence against women and girls.
