Bir Pratik Taramon Bibi falls ill
Kurigram: Taramon Bibi, one of the two Bir Pratik award winning female freedom fighters of Bangladesh, has fallen ill.
She has been suffering from various complications, including respiratory problems, cough, headache and back pain, for the last few days.
On November 30, she was taken to Rangpur Combined Military Hospital where Dr Colonel Delwar Hossain prescribed her some medicines.
“Sometimes it seems to me that my time is over. I can’t breathe and walk well,” she said while talking to news agency UNB.
Taramon also wants the government to arrange her treatment abroad.
Taramon fought for the Mukti Bahini (Liberation Army) which was a guerrilla force that fought against the Pakistan military during Bangladesh War of Independence in 1971.
She joined the war from her village home in Shongkor Madhobpur of Kurigram district.She was in Sector 11 under the leadership of sector commander Abu Taher.
Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s government honoured her with the Bir Pratik title in 1973, for her courageous role in resisting the Pakistan occupation force with weapons.
