Dhaka: The Muslims in Bangladesh will observe Shab-e-Barat, the holy night of fortune and forgiveness, on 2 June as the new moon for the month of Shaban is sighted in Bangladesh on Tuesday.

The decision came at a meeting of the National Moon Sighting Committee held at the Islamic Foundation office in the evening.

The meeting reviewed reports and messages received from across the country about appearance of the new moon in the skies of Bangladesh.
