The ceremony of the civic reception for Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, also the president of the ruling Awami League, has started at capital’s Suhrawardy Uddyan with a rendition of National Anthem.

At about 3:30pm Friday Sheikh Hasina joined the reception accorded by Jatiya Nagorik Committee to the prime minister for for achievements and successes in various fields including implementation of the Land Boundary Agreement with India.

Presided over by noted writer Syed Shamsul Haque, prominent members of the public are now delivering their speeches eulogizing different achievements of the Sheikh Hasina government at reception ceremony.

Defying the heavy rainfall, tens of hundreds of the leaders and activists of the AL and its affiliated organisations started to gather at the ceremony venue by the noon.

Earlier, a 202-member Jatiya Nagorik Committee comprising prominent intellectuals, poets, litterateurs, academicians, journalists and leading cultural personalities of the country was constituted for the purpose.
