Bagerhat: A girl who failed in this year`s Secondary School Certificate examinations allegedly committed suicide on Saturday at Samadderkhali in Morelganj as she could not bear the pain of failing in the exams.

The deceased was Mousumi Hawlader, daughter of Salam Hawlader, a resident of the village.

Police, quoting locals, said Mousumi, who had appeared at this year’s SSC examinations from a local school of Morelganj, went to the school in the afternoon to know her result that was published on that day.

Later, she returned home upset as she failed in the examination and took poison in her room in the afternoon.

Morelganj Police Station officer-in-charge Rafiqul Islam confirmed the incident.
