Fakhrul again denied bail

Dhaka: A Dhaka court on Tuesday denied the bail petitions of Bangladesh Nationalist Party acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir in three cases filed with Paltan Police Station, Dhaka for arson attack, vandalism and obstructing the work of police.
Metropolitan Session’s Judge Md Kamrul Hossain passed the order after hearing the bail petitions filed by Fakhrul’s lawyer Joynul Abedin Mejbah.
The BNP leader moved the session’s judge court on 27 May after Chief Metropolitan Magistrate of Dhaka Ashok Kumar Dutta on 20 May rejected his bail petitions in the three cases.
On 20 May, the court rejected both the bail petition and police custody for interrogation in the three cases.
The court also asked the investigation officers to interrogate Fakhrul at the jail gate by 23 May in the cases.
The BNP leader has been made accused in 87 cases so far.
On 6 January, police arrested the BNP acting secretary general from in front of National Press Club in the capital Dhaka.
