Slum dwellers get hygiene packages, blankets

Rangpur: Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS) on Saturday distributed hygiene packages and blankets to the extremely poor dwellers of 210 households living at Jummapara slum at a ceremony arranged in the city.
Rangpur unit of BDRCS distributed the goods under the Tsunami Residual Fund (TRF) project of Urban Disaster Risk Reduction (UDRR) programme being implemented with financial assistance of International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent (IFRC).
Each of the 210 beneficiary slum families got two pieces of toothpaste tubes, five tooth brushes, two skin care toilet shops, one packet of washing powder, two washing shops, 15-piece sanitary napkins, four toilet tissues, one nail cutter, one comb, one hygiene package with towel and a blanket.
Director of Bangladesh Cricket Board, General Secretary of Rangpur Divisional and District Sports Associations and life-term member of BDRCS Advocate Anwarul Islam distributed the goods among the slum dweller as the chief guest.
Youth Unit Chief of Rangpur Unit of BDRCS Hasnayen Ahmed Nayan along with volunteers of the Unit Disaster Response Team (UDRT) coordinated the distribution ceremony.
With Rangpur unit Secretary of BDRCS Shah Mohammad Nabi Ullah Panna in the chair, its executive committee members, local elite and civil society members attended the function.
