Malaysian parliamentary team meets Khaleda Zia
Dhaka: A four-member Malaysian parliamentary delegation met Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) chairperson Khaleda Zia on Tuesday.
The meeting that began at about 7:30pam was held at the BNP chief’s Gulshan office and lasted for nearly an hour.
Malaysian People's Justice Party vice president Nurul Izzah Anwar led the Malaysian team at the meeting.
BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, standing committee members Dr Adbul Moyeen Khan, Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, chairperson’s adviser Reaz Rahman and party special secretary Asaduzzaman Ripon were present at the meeting.
BNP sources said different issues relating to mutual interests of the two countries, Bangladesh’s current political situation, democratic governing and elections systems and BNP’s observation about the 136th Assembly of Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) came up for discussions at the meeting.
The Malaysian parliamentary delegation arrived here to join the 5-day IPU Assembly that began on Saturday at the South Plaza of the National Parliament.
