Dhaka: Opposition leader Raushan Ershad on Tuesday said some aspects of the proposed budget for the 2015-16 fiscal have frustrated people and would not contribute to public welfare.

‘There are some positive aspects of budget, but there are some other sides which frustrated people….overall I think it won’t contribute to public welfare,’ she said.

Raushan came up with the remarks while addressing an official post-budget reaction at Jatiya Sangsad's media center.

She said domestic and foreign investment is needed to achieve the targeted growth rate. ‘But where is the foreign investment? Without investment how growth will be achieved?’ she questioned.

Criticizing bureaucratic complexities, she said ‘File doesn’t move when it comes to investment board. Investors leave disappointed for this. How development would come?’

Criticizing the government decision imposing tax on mobile call rate, the leader of the opposition said ‘Tax has been imposed on mobile. Country’s civil people talk through mobile phone. What would happen if this tax was not imposed?’

‘There is no instruction about generating employment. People will risk their lives to cross the seas and go abroad if there is employment,’ she added.

Observing that there is no directive on the fate of about four crore people who are living under poverty line, and the possible effects of a price hike after the new pay-scale for government employees becomes operational.

She also said her party will place their opinions in the parliament, in a bid to practice constructive politics.
