Mitford hospital workers continue strike
Dhaka: Medical services at Salimullah Medical College and Mitford Hospital were hampered for the third day on Wednesday as its Class III and Class IV employees continued their one-hour work abstention to press home their three-point demand.
The demands are rehabilitation of employees who used to reside at the old building of the hospital before demolishing it and stopping transfer of the third and fourth class employees as punishment.
Hospital officials said the workers abstained from work from 11:00am to 12 noon on the hospital premises. They also formed a human chain to press for their demands.
The workers were observing a one-hour work abstention from Monday.
The sources said the government has taken a plan to construct a new building after demolishing the old one.
Renu Miah, convener of Housing Crisis Implementation Committee said they would withdraw strike if they had got assurance from the government about meeting their demands.
