80,000 given informal education to stop child labour
Dhaka: The government has imparted informal education and training to some 80,000 children aiming to eliminate child labour and all children, who are engaged in risky jobs, will be brought under education by this year.
This was made public at a seminar on “Child labour” jointly organized by Manusher Joanney and Save the Children in the Bangladesh Institute of Administration and Management (BIAM) auditorium in Dhaka on Thursday.
Primary and Mass Education Secretary Mesbah Ul Alam, Vice President of Bangladesh Employers Federation Sabrina Islam, representatives of different local and international organizations, among others, addressed the seminar with Joint Secretary of the Labour and Employment Ministry Fayzur Rahman in the chair.
According to a survey-2003, there are 32 lakh child labourers in the country and the number of children who are engaged in risky works is 13,00000
