Dhaka: Gas supply will remain suspended for 12 hours from 8am to 8pm on Thursday across a vast area of Mirpur and its adjoining localities, for relocation of gas pipelines to facilitate construction of the Dhaka Metro Rail Project.

According to a press release of the Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company Ltd, which is responsible for gas supply in Dhaka city, the areas where gas supply will be suspended include the areas located on both sides of the main road from Mirpur -10 Circle to Agargaon, Monipur, Kazipara, Sewrapara, Pirerbagh, Barabagh, Senpara, Agargaon, Ibrahimpur, North Kafrul, Parbata, Taltala, Mirpur-14, Kachukhet, Kalayanpur, Shyamoli, Pikepara, Ansar Camp and adjoining areas.

Supply will remain halted to all kinds of consumers including household, commercial, industrial and CNG re-fueling stations in these areas.

Residents of Mirpur and adjoining areas complain they have been suffering frequently from such shutdowns, ever since work commenced on the Metro Rail Project in the area around a year ago.

Many of them alleged that the contractors appointed for the relocation of gas pipelines have been working very slowly over prolonged period, which ultimately delays the whole project's completion.
