Safat, Sadman's mobiles allowed to test

Dhaka: A Dhaka court on Sunday allowed the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to carry out the forensic test on five mobile phone sets seized from the five accused in a case over rape of two university girls in a Banani hotel.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Delwar gave the permission to CID for conducting the forensic test.

Earlier, on Saturday, Ismat Ara Amy, inspector of Victim Support Centre and also the investigation officer of the case, filed a petition before the court.

Besides, the court also allowed police to conduct a DNA test of Nayem Ashraf, an accused in the case.

All the five accused have been arrested in connection with the rape incident.

Police arrested Safat Ahmed and Sadman Sakif from Sylhet on May 11.

Later, members of Rapid Action Battalion-10 picked up Billal, driver of Banani rape case prime accused Safat Ahmed, from Ibrahim Hotel on Nawabpur Road in old Dhaka while DB police arrested gunman Rahmat along with a shotgun and 10 bullets from Gulshan area in the city on May 15.

On May 17, Nayem Ashraf, 30, one of the accused in the case, was arrested from Munshiganj.

The two university girls were raped at Rainree Hotel on March 28 last.

One of the rape victims filed a case with Banani Police Station on May 6 accusing five people.
