NHRC concerned at BGB man’s detention
Dhaka: The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) on Tuesday expressed grave concern at the detention of BGB Nayek Abdur Razzak by Myanmar Border Guard Police (BGP) and the delay in returning him.
On 17 June, BGP opened fire on a Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) patrol boat in Teknaf of Cox’s Bazar district. BGB man Biplob Kumar suffered bullet wounds in the firing.
Later, the BGP men took away Abdur Razzak. However, the Myanmar authorities are yet to return him.
Condemning the incident, the NHRC described it as the utter violation of human rights, and urged Myanmar to hand over the BGB Nayek to Bangladesh immediately.
