Rain leaves 50,000 marooned
Bagerhat: Over 50,000 people in low-lying areas of six upazilas in Bagerhat have been marooned due to heavy rains triggered by depression in the Bay of Bengal.
Locals said the low-lying areas of Mongla, Morelganj, Rampal, Kachua, Sharankhola and Sadar upazilas have been inundated for the last four days due to the heavy rainfall.
Meanwhile, a 200-meter long embankment at Tafalbari in Sharankhola upazila was washed away.
Aman seedbeds on a vast tract of land have been submerged while some shrimp enclosures also went under water.
