Savar: A jhut trader, Bappi Mia, hacked by miscreants has been died at Enam Medical College and Hospital in the early hours of Thursday.

Ashulia Police officer-in-charge Mostofa Kamal said Bappi died undergoing treatment at the hospital at about 5:30am.

Bappi’s father Ain Uddin on Wednesday filed an attempt to murder case with Ashulia police naming 23 people including Dhamshona union ward no 8 member Abdul Halim as accused. The case will be turned into a murder case now, said the OC.

The victim’s family members claimed that Abdul Halim and his associates indiscriminately hacked Bappi while he was taking tea at a tea-stall in Kaichbari area at about 11:00pm on Tuesday. He was taken to Enam Medical College and Hospital in critical condition.

Earlier on Wednesday, Abdul Halim denied his involvement in this connection and said the charges brought against him are false.
