2 killed in Bhola road accidents

Bhola:  A man and a woman were killed in two separate road accidents in Bhola from Sunday till Monday morning.

A woman was killed in a road accident in Sadar upazila of the district on Monday morning.

The deceased is Chompa Akhtar, 28, resident of Bhola municipality area.

Police and local people said the accident took place when a battery-driven auto-rickshaw hit a rickshaw carrying Chompa Akhter and her son towards a school at Ukilpara area of Bhola town in the morning.

As an outcome of the collision, Chompa Akhter fell from the rickshaw and the battery-driven auto-rickshaw ran over her, leaving her critically injured.

She was rushed to Sadar Hospital where the on-duty doctor declared her dead.

The driver of the battery-driven auto-rickshaw managed to flee the spot.

Earlier on Sunday night, a man was crushed under the wheels of a motorbike in Burhanuddin upazila.

Witnesses said Shahjahan, 80, resident of Mulaipattan village of Burhanuddin upazila, was severely injured as he was hit by a motorcycle at at Monirampur Bazar in the upazila around 9:00pm on Sunday

He was rushed to Upazila Health Complex at Burhanuddin and later to Sadar Hospital where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.

Police recovered both the bodies and sent those to morgue for autopsy.
