Gazipur: At least fifteen female students were injured in a lightning strike at Baldighat J M High School in Sreepur upazila of Gazipur on Tuesday noon.

Abu Bakar Siddique, senior teacher of the school, said the lightning hit the school premises at noon while it was raining when the students were standing in the veranda of the school, leaving 15 students injured on the spot.

Later they were admitted to Sreepur Upazila Health Complex.

The condition of four students is critical, said Sadia Afrin, doctor of the emergency unit of the hospital.
