Dhaka: The students and guardians of English Medium Schools started protesting against the Value Added Tax (VAT) imposed on tuition fees.

The students and guardians formed human chain at Satmasjid road in Dhanmondi protesting the VAT imposed on tuition fees at English medium schools at about 12:00noon on Thursday.

The guardians under Shacheton Abhibhabak Shomaj demanded withdrawal of 7.5 per cent VAT imposed upon tuition fees.

Recently, the students of private universities took to the street protesting 7.5 per cent VAT imposition on the tuition fee. After a week-long protest and road block, government decided to withdraw VAT from private universities, medical colleges and engineering colleges.
