Mymensingh: Unidentified miscreants strangled a child rickshaw-van puller to death and snatched away his van at Mondalsen village under Muktagacha upazila of Mymensingh this morning.

The victim is Jahidul Islam, 14, son of auto-rickshaw driver Lal Miah Lalu, of Mondalsen Paschimpara village.

Quoting family sources Muktagacha police officer-in-Charge (OC) Abu Mohammad Fazlul Karim said Jahidul Islam went out of his home with the van on Thursday evening and did not return.

Local people found the body of the boy floating in Bayjana canal at Mondalsen this morning.

Police recovered the body and sent it to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital for autopsy.

Victim's father filed a murder case with Muktagacha Police Station in this connection.

None was arrested till filing of this report.
