Dhaka: A low lies over central Bay and adjoining area, under its influence steep pressure gradient lies over North Bay, squally weather may affect North Bay, adjoining coastal area of Bangladesh and the maritime ports, said Bangladesh Meteorological Department on Sunday.  

Besides, light to heavy rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind is likely to occur at most places over Khulna, Barisal, Dhaka, Chittagong and Sylhet divisions and at many places over Rajshahi and Rangpur divisions with moderately heavy to heavy falls at places over the country from 10:00am to next 24 hours.

There is a possibility of landslide in some parts of the Chittagong hill track due to heavy rainfall.

Met official Md Abdur Rahman Khan, on behalf of the director, said maritime ports of Chittagong, Cox's Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to hoist local cautionary signal no. three (3).  

All fishing boats and trawlers over North Bay have been advised to come close to the coast and proceed with caution until further, he added.  

Met office recorded the highest 119 mm rainfall at Maijdi Court of Chittagong division, 98 mm rainfall at Tekhnaf, 84 mm at Cox's Bazar and only 18 mm rainfall in the Dhaka in last 24 hours till 10:00am on Sunday.
