Who doesn’t remember tapping a foot to Sridevi’s sensational item song Hawa Hawai in Shekhar Kapoor’s Mr. India.

Back in 2011, the song was remixed in Bijoy Nambiar’s Shaintan and was much appreciated by audiences.

And now, as another lovely tribute to the original classic, Vidya Balan has brought back the magic and zing of Hawa Hawai for her upcoming film, Tumhari Sulu.

What is interesting about Hawa Hawai 2.0 is how seamlessly modern beats have been inserted into the song without taking away its original flavour. Besides some really cool improvisations, the makers of Tumhari Sulu have also introduced a rap interlude in the song.

Viday Balan is a fresh gust of wind in the song and her performance brings out the multi-coloured aspirations of an ordinary Indian housewife.

Hawa Hawai 2.0 is a hearty tribute to Sridevi and we must say that Vidya has not only lived up to her legacy but also made the song her own.

Hawa Hawai 2.0 also features a cameo by the immensely popular RJ Malishka of ‘Sonu’ fame.

"I am an ardent fan of Sridevi, I was nervous (while doing the film). But having said that we are recreating ‘Hawa Hawai’ song that guys have seen in ‘Mr India’,” Vidya had said earlier, keeping us waiting for a long time for this special number.

At the trailer launch of Tumhari Sulu, Vidya had added, “It is a tribute to her, we are having fun. There is only one Sridevi.”

Well, now that Hawa Hawai 2.0 is out, we just can’t wait to find out Srivedi’s reaction to Vidya’s tribute.

Starring Anil Kapoor, Sridevi and Amrish Puri, Mr. India was released in 1987.

Tumhari Sulu is slated to hit the screens on November 17.
