The 43-year-old has been both the media’s and the audiences’ favourite. She began being recognised ever since she appeared in Chaiyya Chaiyya song from Dil Se, starring Shah Rukh Khan, reports the Indian Express.

The song went on to become a cult classic and till now the actor is referred as Chaiyya Chaiyya girl of Bollywood.

As a lesser known fact to many, she started her career at a young age as a video jockey on MTV and then accompanied Cyrus Broacha as his co-anchor in the shows Love Line and Style Check.

She later moved on to doing modelling and also appeared in many advertisements too. In 1998, she got a chance to feature in another popular album song, ‘Gur Nalo Ishq Mitha,’ which again became very popular.

She gradually started doing cameo appearances in movies like Om Shanti Om, Housefull and Happy New Year among others. Her item song, Munni Badnam Hui was not only a chartbuster but ensured her fan following touched new heights.
