Item girl Mumait Khan's stint in Bigg Boss has been cut short since she had received summons from the excise department as part of the ongoing probe into Tollywood's links with drug peddlers. Muumait Khan is scheduled to appear for questioning on July 27 and was issued notices under Section 67 of NDPS Act.

Former Bollywood actor Mamta Kulkarni has been named as an accused in connection with the Rs 2,000-crore narcotics racket unearthed in Thane in April 2016. Mamta's Kenya-based husband Vicky Goswami was named as an accused in this case. Goswami is believed to be a notorious drug lord wanted by the US authorities for running an international drug racket.

In 1982 Sanjay Dutt, son of veteran actor and Congress leader Sunil Dutt, was arrested in a drug case wherein he was sentenced to 5-months of imprisonment. Before the 1993 bomb blast case, Sanjay Dutt had spent few months in jail for possession of illegal substances. In an interview with mid-day, Dutt said, that had been consuming drugs for ten years or so… '79-'80 onwards. Ever since he quit, he has been an active anti-drugs campaigner, speaking strongly against the addiction.

Bollywood actor and son of veteran actor Feroz Khan, Fardeen Khan, was arrested by the Mumbai police for the possession of cocaine on May 5 2001. He was charged with "illegal possession, although the quantity was for personal consumption of any narcotic drug or psychotropic substance or actual consumption of such a drug". In 2012, the actor Fardeen Khan was granted bail with immunity in the drug case.

Apurva Agnihotri  and wife Shilpa Saklani were detained at a rave party, busted by the Mumbai police in 2012. The couple insist they weren't aware it was a rave party, reports the Mid-Day.
