After winning hearts with her endearing character of Sulochana aka Sulu in Tumhari Sulu, Vidya Balan is set to make her Telugu film debut.

The actress will be seen playing the role of the first wife of late South superstar and former chief minister of Andhra Pradesh NT Rama Rao in his biopic.

Directed by Teja, the film also stars Nandamuri Balakrishna as NTR Rao’s late father, and is set to go on floors on March 29. The shoot will reportedly commence in Hyderabad, reports the Bollywoodlife.com.

‘The team has constructed a huge set to shoot a crucial scene featuring Balakrishna for two days immediately after the launch. Incidentally, the shoot will happen at the same place where NTR filmed the first scene of his mythological film Daana Veera Soora Karna. The launch is likely to be graced by Telangana and Andhra Pradesh chief ministers K Chandrasekhara Rao and Nara Chandrababu Naidu, film stars, ministers, MLAs and other dignitaries from the Telugu states,’ a source was quoted in The New Indian Express.

Interestingly, this is not the only biopic based on NTR Rao’s life that is in the making. Two more biopics are underway! One of the two will be helmed by Ram Gopal Varma and it will be NTR Rao’s life seen through the eyes of his second wife Lakshmi; hence the title Lakshmi’s NTR. According to TOI, producer Kethi Reddy Jagdeswara Reddy is also planning a film on the life of NTR.

As far as the film starring Vidya Balan goes, it will cover three time periods in the lifetime of NTR – his childhood, rise to fame and entry in politics. Other actors to play the roles of prominent personalities that in the life of NTR are yet to be finalised. Vidya has also been approached by Hansal Mehta for Sridevi’s role in her biopic.
