‘Gaan’ music streaming service launched

Gaan, the first ever independent music streaming mobile app in the country was officially launched on 15 February at the Daily Star Centre in Dhaka through a press event. The event was attended by key government officials, media and other well-known personalities of the music world.

The chief guest at the event was Hamin Ahmed, president of BAMBA and special guest Nahim Razzaq, lawmaker and convener at Young Bangla also attended the event. Other guest speakers were Fuad Naser Babu, composer and member of the band Feedback and singer Elita Karim.

Like anywhere in the world, Music is a very powerful tool in Bangladesh influencing daily life, fashion, attitude and culture in a way few other social developments could equal. Music has always played a key role in Bangladesh, creating awareness and inspiring the community since 1971.

As the demand and popularity of music is ever increasing, music has adopted different formats and distribution platforms starting from LPs, Cassettes, CDs etc. But with the evolution of online entertainment, the most popular and successful format of music worldwide now is the ‘On Demand Streaming Services’, surpassing the ever so popular Music Downloads.

‘Gaan’ by Gaan on Demand Limited, is the first ever independent music streaming (using Mobile Internet or WiFi service, available on Android Mobile Devices for Bangladeshi and/or Bangla Music only.

‘Gaan’ gives instant access to high quality contents of all your favourite artists, albums and songs…anytime, anywhere!

While speaking at the event Hamin Ahmed said: ‘Gaan is an innovative, revolutionary and first of its kind service in the Country. I am extremely proud to be inaugurating this service today. Gaan is technology disruptor and it will not only change the music landscape but also empower the artists and the listeners, alike.’

Nahim Razzaq, said: ‘For a long time Bangladesh people wanted an online, on demand music streaming service like Gaan. Today that dream has come true. With the launch of this service, a new life has been breathed into the music industry and the listeners can now listen to the music they want, where they want and when they want it. This is truly a new dawn for the music industry and for all the avid music lovers of the country.’
